What Happens When a “Labelling Issue” Is Triggered

When the QA team triggers a “Labelling Issue”, it means that one or more images do not meet the required labelling standards and cannot be validated in their current state.
This process is designed to ensure accuracy, consistency, and correct display on client platforms.

Why a Labelling Issue Is Triggered

A labelling issue may be triggered if:

  • One or more single-subject images are missing labels
  • Labels are incorrect, unclear, or inconsistent with the menu
  • Generic or unacceptable labels are used (e.g. “Food”, “Dish”, file names, emojis)
  • A custom label is used unnecessarily when a predefined label exists
  • Labels do not accurately describe the dish as it appears on the restaurant’s menu
  • The dish name is received incorrectly by the QA team (typos, wrong dish name, or mismatch with the menu)

What This Means for the Creator

When a labelling issue is triggered:

  • The assignment status will be blocked for validation
  • The upload cannot be confirmed until all labelling issues are resolved
  • If dish names are incorrect, the images will be rejected by QA
  • Images can only be delivered after the correct dish name has been updated and validated
  • The creator will need to review and update the labels before proceeding

What Is Expected From the Creator (Step by Step)

  1. Open the assignment and go to the image(s) flagged by QA
  2. Review all single-subject images
  3. For each image:
    • Select the correct predefined label, if available
    • If no predefined label exists, create a clear and accurate custom label
  4. Ensure that:
    • Labels match the restaurant’s menu exactly
    • Dish names are spelled correctly and reflect the correct menu item
    • Labels describe the dish itself, not angles, versions, or file names
  5. Double-check that all required images are labelled
  6. Once completed, confirm the upload again

👉 The system will only allow confirmation once all labelling requirements are met and dish names are corrected.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

❌ Using generic terms (“Food”, “Meal”)
❌ Copying file names as labels
❌ Adding camera angles or internal notes
❌ Overusing custom labels when predefined ones exist
❌ Labelling dishes differently from the menu name
Submitting images with incorrect or misspelled dish names

Best Practices

  • Always prioritise predefined labels
  • If no menu link is provided, note dish names during the photoshoot
  • Keep labels clear, consistent, and menu-accurate
  • Double-check dish names before submission to avoid QA rejection
