Travel Fees

Travel fees are not automatic and are granted exceptionally to help cover travel costs for projects that require significant travel time or are located in remote areas.

Travel fees can be:

  • Proactively offered by the OCUS team (via direct contact or through your Daily Digest email), or
  • Requested by creators before assigning themselves to a project.

How Travel Fees Work

When Travel Fees Are Offered by OCUS

If a project is difficult to cover or located in a remote area, the OCUS team may offer a bonus (travel fee) to encourage coverage. This offer may be sent directly to you or included in your Daily Digest email.

If you accept the project, the travel fee is added to the project. Keep in mind that it is paid only once the project is completed and successfully delivered.

1. If You Accept via the Daily Digest Email

  • Click the project link shared in the email and schedule the session.
  • The travel fee (price boost) may not appear immediately but will be automatically added within 24 hours after scheduling.

2. If You Accept via Direct Email from the OCUS Team

  • Reply “Yes” to the email and schedule the project.
  • The OCUS team will manually add the travel fee, provided the project is still available at the time of your reply.

When You Request a Travel Fee

If a project requires significant travel time, you may request a travel fee before assigning yourself to the project by using the dedicated travel fee form.

⚠️ Important: Submitting a travel fee request does not reserve the project. If another creator assigns themselves while your request is under review, the project will be assigned to them.

After submitting your request, you will receive a response by email.

Approval depends on factors such as:

  • Project location
  • Number of available creators nearby
  • Urgency and local constraints

If approved:

  • The travel fee is automatically added to the project and appears as part of the price boost, together with any other active bonus.
  • You must schedule the project as soon as possible to secure the assignment.

If a project already has an active price boost, this may affect the maximum travel fee granted.

Travel fees are paid only if the project is completed and successfully delivered.

How to Request a Travel Fee

Travel fee requests cannot be processed via chat or phone.

You must submit your request using the dedicated travel fee form. The Compensation Team will review your request and notify you by email.

In the form, provide only the short alphanumeric project ID. Do not include additional text.

Common Errors

You may encounter an error message if:

  • The project was created less than two hours ago.
  • The project is temporarily blocked due to its status.
  • The short project ID entered includes extra text (only the alphanumeric ID is accepted).

Travel fees cannot be applied retroactively to projects that have already taken place or are already in the delivery stage.

How Travel Fees Are Calculated

Travel fees are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may vary depending on:

  • Your country
  • Distance to the project location
  • Coverage urgency
  • Number of available creators nearby
  • Country-specific or operational constraints

Please note that travel fees are never guaranteed.

Important Reminder

By accepting and scheduling a project, you acknowledge that travel expenses are your responsibility as the assigned creator.

Travel fees are granted exceptionally and are not guaranteed. Ensure you are able to travel to the project location before accepting the assignment.
